Countless new and old application fields require more efficiency and many of them could not even be realized without. Internet search engines, social networking services, driver assistance systems or DNA analysis demand a higher performance with the least possible amount of resources. Additionally, companies want to reduce the deployment costs to be efficient in the economic sense and maximize their profits.
Moreover, reliability issues raised in importance for computing systems in general. On the one hand, the miniaturization process in semiconductor technology leads to higher processing frequencies, shorter signal delays, and lower power consumptions. On the other hand, the transistors, the basic function units of today's computer technology, become more and more unreliable.
For these reasons, this dissertation presents `Concepts and Algorithms for Increasing the Efficiency and Reliability of Reconfigurable Computers´.
