The high complexity of mechatronic products requires goal-oriented collaboration of the disciplines involved during development. Starting with a presentation of key challenges a methodology to support the interdisciplinary planning and synchronization of mechatronic development processes is developed. This methodology is based on an integrated product and process model in form of a multiple-domain matrix and supports modelling, planning, analysing, controlling and visualisation of the development process. The approach accounts for cross-disciplinary dependencies in the product architecture and interactions between the product and the process structure.
