Stephan Klutz Continuous processing of monoclonal antibodies
203 Seiten, Dissertation Technische Universität Dortmund (2016), Softcover, A5
Due to the evolving biopharmaceutical market, small scale and flexible production processes for antibody manufacturing become more important. Therefore, this work focuses on three issues regarding continuous antibody manufacturing.
First, this work evaluates the Coiled Flow Inverter (CFI), a helical tube reactor, as a promising reactor concept for a continuous viral inactivation. The CFI reactor is experimentally characterized regarding its residence time distribution (RTD) behavior followed by an introduction of two design approaches including a discussion on the impact the design approaches have on the inactivation performance and the product quality.
Second, a fully continuous and automated pilot plant for the production of monoclonal antibodies has been built and successfully operated together with colleagues from industrial partners.
Third, this work is completed by economic process mode evaluations of antibody production processes.
