Zusammenfassung / Abstract

Preparative protein crystallization for the sake of formulation and purification is still barely applied in industry, as the protein phase behavior is highly complex and existing macroscale protein crystallization technologies are not yet sophisticated. In the scope of this work a systematic approach for bulk protein crystallization is developed, which consists of three consecutive steps: screening of the protein phase behavior on a microscale, transfer of the screening results to a macroscale evaporative crystallization process, and optimization of the product and the process.
