Fawad Karimi
Towards Realtime Observation of Interatomic Coulombic Decay via XUV Pump - THz Probe Streaking

158 Seiten, Dissertation Universität Hamburg (2019), Softcover, A5

Zusammenfassung / Abstract

Within this work an apparatus for time domain electron spectroscopy has been designed, developed and successfully commissioned. The method is based on XUV pump and THz-streaking probe. The apparatus is setup by preparing the XUV pump and THz probe source by an unequal division of the fundamental laser at 800 nm to produce ultrashort extreme ultraviolet pulses via higher-order harmonic in a gas medium with the higher intensity part of the fundamental beam while the other part is utilized for the generation of THz radiation in a lithium niobate crystal. The produced higher harmonics are selected with an extreme off-plane mounted single grating almost time preserving monochromator. The selected higher harmonic and the THz are focused in a collinear fashion spatially and temporally in the interaction zone to initiate the process under observation with the extreme ultraviolet pulse and scan the dynamics of the initiated process by a temporal delay scan with the THz-driven streak camera. The process under examination here is the evolution of Interatomic/Intermolecular Coulombic Decay (ICD) in in Neon-Krypton. Furthermore, a temperature controlled pulsed valve supersonic jet of dimer and bigger clusters sources has been setup and commissioned successfully to study the evolution of ICD in Neon-Krypton dimers.
