Markus Scholl Low-Power Multi-Band Multi-Standard Transmitter for Low Latency Applications
211 Seiten, Dissertation Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen (2024), Softcover, A5
The efforts of reducing production costs have led to four revolutionary development steps in manufacturing processes: After mechanization, electrification and information, the current phase is named Industry 4.0. This concept aims to enable strong individualization of products by dynamic industrial manufacturing and allows to efficiently optimize the manufacturing process. This is realized by integrating the individual manufacturing systems in a communication network and enable controllability. It is an important pillar to make production sites in high-tech countries competitive. A key component for this revolution is the communication infrastructure which is preferably implemented as wireless communication. Due to challenging and even contradicting requirements for communication range, data rates, reliability, latency and power consumption of the wireless communication systems, many different standards have emerged. As a consequence, interoperability between the systems is not given and thus the efficiency and cost benefits of these production sites cannot be realized.
In this work, a transmitter for wireless communication has been developed, which enables communication between different relevant standards and frequency bands. Thereby, it enables the interoperability of communication systems and the above described revolution of manufacturing. At the same time, the components of the transmitter are designed to meet or exceed the high requirements of the application and therefore enable new field of applications.
