Quantum Simulation with Dipolar Exchange Interactions

278 Seiten, Dissertation Universität Stuttgart (2026), Softcover, A5

Zusammenfassung / Abstract

The simulation of many-body quantum systems with classical computers can be challenging due to the exponential growth of the Hilbert space. Promising devices to study quantum many-body problems are quantum simulators, that utilize highly controllable quantum systems. One distinguishes between analog quantum simulators, where a certain quantum many-body problem is physically encoded in artificial quantum matter and digital quantum simulators, where quantum many body problems are solved by applying quantum gates to qubits. While analog quantum simulators are expected to tolerate noise to a certain extent, many applications of quantum computers require quantum error correction. In this thesis we consider topics from analog quantum simulation and quantum error correction. In the first part we consider analog quantum simulations with dipolar exchange interactions. In the second part, we discuss quantum error correction protocols for Rydberg quantum computers.
