Investigation into the chelate assisted activation of non-strained C(sp²)-C(sp²) single bonds using group 8, 9 and 10 transition metal complexes

Zusammenfassung / Abstract

The chelate assisted insertion reaction into the unstrained Ccarbonyl-Cα single bond of benzophenone moieties were successfully elucidated and investigated for 1)iridium (using IrCl(CO)(PPh3)2 as precursor was without precedence in the literature), 2) rhodium (using [(coe)2RhCl]2 as precursor) and 3) osmium (using OsCl(NO)(PPh3)3 as precursor was without precedence in the literature) metal centers in homogeneous phase. Phosphinite moieties were used to coordinate the organic fragment in a promising trans orientation to the metal centre.

The mechanism of the consecutive intramolecular reactions (concentration independent) in the investigated iridium system was dealt in detail with (CO loss, CO extrusion, trans/cis and cis/cis’ isomerization).
