Zusammenfassung / Abstract

Embedded systems have become an integral part of our everyday life. Their constantly growing complexity requires for automatic design methodologies that assist the system engineer during the design process. In recent years, it could be observed that the ever shrinking device structures are one of the main reasons for a growing inherent unreliability of embedded system components. To cope with this problem, this work proposes a novel all-encompassing dependability-aware system-level design approach, tailored to the design of embedded systems. The main idea proposed here features the introduction of dependability as a principal design objective into system-level design space exploration. At this juncture, this work proposes novel concepts for modeling, analysis, and optimization to enable the optimization of dependability together with several other design objectives to obtain dependable high-quality system implementations.
