Zusammenfassung / Abstract

Electron beam melting (EBM) is an additive manufacturing technology for processing metals. This manufacturing process uses accelerated electrons in order to heat, sinter and melt a metal powder. The sintering of the powder is an important process for a stable manufacturing flow. By changing the sintering strategy, a new additive manufacturing process was developed in order to reduce build time. By variation of selected process parameters, the energy input could be adjusted for a local radiation and sintering of the metal powder. Investigations on the sinter quality of the powder were carried out in order to find effective parameters. Additionally, mechanical properties of test samples were determined. The resulting build time reduction was also investigated.

The new sinter strategy lead to an overall decrease in build time at comparable mechanical properties of the manufactured samples. Through the newly developed manufacturing process, time and therefore money can be safed.
