Vakhtang Latsuzbaya Integrated Vacuum Insulation Panels in the Aircraft Industry
245 Seiten, Dissertation Universität Stuttgart (2025), Hardcover, A5
This book explores advanced insulation solutions for aircraft cabins, addressing limitations of conventional materials such as poor thermal performance, water retention, and bulkiness in tight structural areas. It proposes integrating vacuum insulation into sandwich composite panels to enhance thermal efficiency while minimizing lining thickness. Using a mixed-methods approach, the study presents novel composite designs, evaluates their manufacturability, and investigates their insulating properties through experimental and numerical methods. It further examines vacuum stability under high-temperature and pressure conditions typical of panel production. The research confirms that these structures maintain low thermal conductivity over a 20–30 year lifespan and meet critical standards for fire resistance, mechanical strength, and acoustical performance. The ability to form complex shapes also supports their application in modern aircraft interiors. This work demonstrates the feasibility and long-term benefits of vacuum-insulated sandwich structures, offering a transformative approach to cabin climate control and design.
